Summers for Congress

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2008

Summers hails Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s selection to be Senator John McCain’s
Vice Presidential running mate

Scarborough (ME) – Maine’s First District Republican nominee Charlie Summers today hailed Senator John McCain’s selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“I am excited by Senator McCain’s selection of Governor Palin. Governor Palin understands first hand the energy crisis we are facing today and is willing to take a strong stand in making sure we drill in America for our own resources. Her hands-on knowledge of the energy issues facing America will be critically important in the campaign and as she serves as Vice President.”

“Senator McCain has chosen a running mate that will both challenge the status quo and help to change the way politics is conducted in Washington. Her historic nomination will bring excitement and energy to the race and her executive experience will further strengthen Senator McCain’s campaign.”

Charlie Summers is the Republican nominee in the race to represent Maine’s First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives – a strong leader with the right ideas to not only address the issues facing both Mainers and Americans, but to get results. Already having served Maine in several capacities – as the New England Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, State Director for U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine), and as a two-term member of the Maine State Senate – Summers also brings the unique perspective of having served his country in the U.S. Navy, including roles in the Pentagon supporting the global war on terrorism, and in a nine-month tour of duty in Iraq.
