Maine Talk Radio Debuts Tonight!

Dan’s Maine View is going live on internet radio! Join me tonight on Maine Talk Radio on the internet’s Blogtalk radio at www.blogtalkradio.com/mainetalk and discuss Maine politics and our coming future as a socialist state.

Tonight we’ll be touching on some of the headlines of today, and we’ll verbally tar and feather our two Senators, Collin’s and Snowe for defecting to the other side of the aisle, and we’ll also talk a bit about the massive Plum Creek development that The Nature Conservancy brokered in the Moosehead region.

Pat Toomey on Spector, Snowe and Collins

There are a couple of interesting notes from the MRC regarding their Cyberalerts, one is CBS’s Early Show Praises Obama’s ‘Optimism Offensive’ , and the other is NBC’s Vieira Refuses to Challenge Frank on Wasteful Earmarks.

There’s also an interesting article at the American Spectator regarding a study on how states consider freedom called Freedom Lives. The author, Nicole Russell starts by quoting John Locke saying “The end of law is not to abolish or restrain but to preserve and enlarge freedom.” She discusses a new report compiled by two Political Science scholars and published by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University — “Freedom in the 50 States”

Here are the rankings for Maine from the report;

Category Rank Score
Fiscal Policy #48 0.23

Regulatory #50 0.18

Economic #49 0.406

Personal #2 0.193

Overall #39 0.214

I find it interesting that we still rank high with personal freedom, and yet we scrape the bottom of the barrel with all of our other freedoms. It is clear that the regulatory environment in Maine needs to change according to this study. But while we still have a high level of personal freedom, that can disappear very quickly, and I believe the current administration is doing everything possible to see that that happens.

There’s also another great piece, Mark of the Beast by Newt Gingrich and Emily Renwick well worth the read. Here in Maine, the Portland Press Herald has a piece called Bottom falls out for middle class where the writer, Ann Kim shares on how “Mainers fear falling into poverty amid layoffs, the loss of health insurance and financial instability.” Maine’s economy is disappearing as we lose good, solid manufacturing positions to other states, as well as to offshore manufacturing, and replace them with less secure service sector positions such as call centers and health care that produce no real wealth or benefit to Maine.

As the Obama administration plays Robin Hood and claims to take from the rich to share with the poor, Americans are slowly coming to realize that Obama’s interpretation of the rich is including an ever widening circle of classes. It was once widely assumed that the rich meant people making a million dollars a year, but that level has lowered to include people making $250,00 per year. More and more people are going to wind up paying for the benefits of a few, all the while enlarging the animal we call government. That animal has become a beast and needs to be returned to its cage. And it needs to be done now.

When we read of the governments attempt to repair the economy, read ‘regulate’ in the place of repair.

There are a lot of places where we can go to and help combat this animal, and farce it back into the cage it belongs in. Ask yourself this question; am I a servant or a master? Your government thinks it has become your master. Do you agree? If not, find some likeminded people and join in the fight to take America back.
